What's New for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler?

The Jeep Wrangler has an instantly recognizable and iconic design that you don't want to mess around with too much. That's why, instead of redesigning the Wrangler completely, Jeep found ways to refresh and modernize it without losing the legendary overall design. The Wrangler's signature design elements, the upright grille with seven slots, round headlights, trapezoidal fender flares, fold-down windshield, and removable top and doors, all remain. Meanwhile, the grille welcomes an updated color scheme with Neutral Gray Metallic bezels and a body-color surround. Also, you'll notice that the Wrangler's steel mast antenna is removed for 2024. Instead, Jeep uses a windshield-integrated stealth antenna. However, one of the most exciting new 2024 features is the 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreen. The Uconnect 5 software features advanced technologies like Amazon Alexa virtual assistant with home-to-car functions, cordless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 4G LTE WiFi for eight devices, available TomTom navigation, and much more. Also new for 2024 is the all-new Rubicon X trim. This takes the legendary Rubicon trim to the next level with added features such as a steel grille guard, a forward-facing off-road camera, a winch-capable steel bumper, and much more.

What Are the Engine and Drivetrain Options for the 2024 Wrangler?

The 2024 Wrangler comes out with the engines that Jeep has trusted for years. Lifting the hood, you'll find a Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine as standard equipment. The Pentastar engine provides drivers with 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, an efficient 2.0L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine is optional on select Wrangler trims, offering 270 horsepower and an impressive 295 lb-ft of torque. To create the Wrangler 4xe, Jeep paired this turbocharged engine with two electric motors and a rechargeable electric battery, providing phenomenal fuel efficiency and an impressive 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The last available engine comes exclusively with the fearsome Wrangler Rubicon 392. Spanning 392 cubic inches, the 6.4L HEMI V8 under the hood of the Rubicon 392 shakes the earth with 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. While an eight-speed automatic transmission and Command-Trac 4x4 come standard with the V6-powered Wranglers, an eight-speed automatic transmission and Selec-Trac 4x4 come standard with the turbocharged, 4xe, and V8-powered models.

4x4 Systems for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler

As with previous model years, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler offers four impressive 4x4 systems. Standard equipment is Command-Trac 4x4. Command-Trac uses a part-time transfer case allowing drivers to optimize their Wrangler's traction for any road condition. For example, on smooth and dry terrain, two-wheel drive should be used to maximize fuel efficiency. Meanwhile, on snow, loose gravel, or other low-traction surfaces, 4-HI should be used to maximize traction at speeds up to 55 MPH. Meanwhile, Command-Trac offers 4-LO to maximize low-speed traction for off-roading on steep, uneven terrain. The Command-Trac transfer case is shifted by a knob on the center console, and gears can be changed on the fly up to 55 MPH. Selec-Trac comes with the turbocharged, 4xe, and Rubicon 392 models. Selec-Trac uses a full-time automatic transfer case to provide continuous traction without any driver input. However, it differs from other full-time transfer cases as it automatically shifts into two-wheel drive on smooth, dry roads and into four-wheel drive on tough road conditions. The last two systems are both named Rock-Trac. The Rubicon comes with Rock-Trac part-time 4x4, which provides a 4:1 gear ratio for high torque at low speeds. Meanwhile, the Rubicon X comes with Rock-Trac full-time 4x4, providing the same low-range gear ratio with automatic, full-time four-wheel drive.
