What Powertrain Options Does the Dodge Hornet Have?
The Dodge Hornet model you pick determines the engine that you get. The baseline Dodge Hornet GT puts a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four-cylinder engine to good use, putting out 265-plus horsepower accompanied by 290 lb-ft of torque, which earned it the title of the most powerful gas-powered vehicle in the CUV segment. The turbocharged engine gives drivers a 0-60 time of just 6.5 seconds. The Hornet GT comes standard with an all-wheel drive system driven by an 8-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Hornet R/T is available and comes standard with a turbocharged 1.3L inline-four engine to power the front wheels. Powering the rear wheels is a 90-kWh electric motor powered by a rechargeable battery pack. This setup gives the Hornet R/T 285 horsepower, 383 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 time of as quick as 5.1 seconds! A 6-speed automatic transmission drives the electric all-wheel-drive system of the Hornet R/T.
Exterior Features of the 2023 Dodge Hornet
While it may sound difficult to make a CUV give off a muscle car-like appearance, no one does muscle cars like Dodge! The Hornet was carefully crafted to make Dodge’s muscle car history shine through, featuring a mail-slot opening that was adopted from the Charger. Additionally, the Hornet uses the Dodge Rhombi symbol at the center of the grille. Flanking the grille on each side are slim headlight houses with LED daytime running light strips, giving the Hornet an aggressive stare. The Hornet has a muscular yet refined side profile with sharp lines and graceful curves. Dodge gave the Hornet matte black lower cladding to give it a touch of modern ruggedness. Lastly, the Hornet comes standard with dual heat extractors on the hood, meshing muscle car style and performance.
Interior Design and Technologies of the 2023 Dodge Hornet
The Hornet’s interior design can be described as comfortable, advanced, and driver-centric. The new generation of Dodge’s interior design brings along everything people love about the current designs, like the cockpit-style dashboard, and adds advanced technology and more intuitive controls. The cockpit feeling comes from the center stack being tilted slightly to face the driver. At the top of the center stack, you’ll find a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreen. Uconnect 5 is the newest infotainment software from Dodge, offering cordless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, TomTom navigation with live traffic updates, Amazon Alexa with car-to-home functionality, 4G LTE WiFi, and much more. Below the touchscreen, you’ll find physical climate control buttons, the ignition button, driving mode buttons, and a leather-wrapped gear shifter. Behind the Hornet’s leather-wrapped steering wheel sits a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster that can be customized to fit your driving information preferences.
