Ram 1500 Service Schedule Ohio

The Ram 1500 is a powerful, well-made truck. It balances performance with a spacious, comfortable interior and a sleek exterior. Routine maintenance and regular oil changes are of the utmost importance when preserving those aspects of your vehicle. Whether you use your Ram 1500 for commuting or hauling, keeping up with the maintenance schedule is essential. If you don't, you could be left with expensive repair bills. Ram breaks down the service schedule into miles driven rather than years to ensure that their truck gets the service it needs. The following intervals are Ram's suggested maintenance milestones for your Ram truck:

8,000 Mile Service

Changing your oil filter is the most important thing to consider for this service. Additionally, you should consider a visual inspection of your vehicle and rotate your tires to even out tread wear to ensure everything is still in order. It is advised that you have this service every 8000 miles. When you do not change your oil regularly, your truck will have improper lubrication. In turn, your engine will heat up, vital components will wear out, and your engine will cease. Oil changes also eliminate dirt and debris, making your engine run slower. If your engine heats up because of old oil, it will wear down and eventually stop working properly

20,000 Mile Service

Once your odometer reaches 20,000 miles, you'll need a core servicing that every other service depends on. This includes a Ram 1500 oil change, cabin air filter change, an inspection of tie rod ends and front suspension, and brake lining inspection, with replacement if necessary. The Cabin Air Filter cleans the air that moves through your truck's HVAC system.

30,000 Mile Service

At this mileage, small tasks like engine and cabin filter replacement and larger jobs like CV/Universal joint inspection should be completed. It's also an excellent time to check your transfer case fluid and inspect the front/rear axle surfaces. A transfer case is a part of the drivetrain of four-wheel-drive, all-wheel-drive, and other multiple-powered axle vehicles. The transfer case transfers power from the transmission to the front and rear axles using drive shafts.

60,000 Mile Service

At the 60,000-mile service, your Ram 1500 will need the transmission fluid, filters, engine coolant, and brake fluid should be checked and replaced as needed. Of course, if you are due for an oil change, you should also have that done. Brake fluid is used to transfer force into pressure and to amplify braking force. Basically, if your truck's brake fluid is low, you won't be able to stop very well.

100,000 Mile Service

At this interval, in addition to repeating many of the services above, your Ram 1500 will likely need a few new items like the engine air cleaner filter, spark plugs, and the PCV valve, inspected and replaced if needed. For those unaware, a PCV valve controls emissions. It takes the gases produced by the crankcase and routes them back into your engine's combustion chambers to be safely burned without harming your vehicle or the environment. While gases can exit the crankcase through the PCV valve, they cannot return to it.
