To help you get started on your off-road journey, we’ve put together a few tips on how to prepare you and your Jeep for the trails. Continue reading below to learn more!

Prepare Your Vehicle for the Trails

If you already have a Jeep you’re interested in taking on the trails, it’s important that you make sure it’s up for the task. Having a thorough inspection of your Jeep’s essential mechanical components can help save yourself potential issues on the trails. When you bring your Jeep to our service center, we’ll inspect the tire tread, fluids, steering, suspension, hoses, lines, and more to ensure it’s ready for you to take off-roading. Any recommendations for services and repairs that the technician makes can be performed right here in our service center. Additionally, our parts center stocks genuine Mopar parts and accessories to repair and upgrade your Jeep.

Prepare Yourself for the Trails

There are a handful of precautions that you should take before venturing onto the trails in your Jeep. The two most important precautions are to not go along and to tell someone where you're going. While these may seem redundant, it’s important to have another vehicle with you. That way, if one gets stuck, the other can be used to pull it out. You should tell someone where you’re going and when you anticipate being back because, if your vehicle becomes stuck or inoperable in an area with no cell service, someone to know when and where to start looking for you. You should also bring along essential items you may need, such as extra layers of clothing, extra food, and plenty of water.

What to Pack for an Off-Roading Trip?

There are other things you should pack for your off-roading adventure to keep you safe and rolling. The list of things to keep in your Jeep for an off-roading adventure may sound similar to a camping list. It includes things like a flashlight, extra batteries, duct tape, a pocket knife, extra layers of clothing, extra food and water, trail maps, a GPS, a fire extinguisher, and a first aid kit. For your Jeep, you should bring a tool kit, a spare tire or tire repair kit, a winch kit with a tow strap (and the knowledge to use it), spare wiper blades, and engine oil. Your tool kit should include basic tools like pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, and assorted nuts and bolts. Additionally, bringing along WD-40 and tank sealant putty can be useful in a pinch.
